NIO is a Chinese all-electric vehicle company that values user experience above all else. The Silicon Valley design studio was tasked with demonstrating strategic opportunities and supporting shipping products for the nascent automaker's vehicles and services.
Tasks included conceptual design as well as working with development teams, hardware constraints, and homologation requirements to deliver unique products for an unfamiliar customer.
Designed and explored future concepts for Audi, Porsche, Bentley, and other VW brands at their research and development lab in Silicon Valley.
Starting as an Interaction Designer, I had an opportunity to influence many products in a rapidly changing mobility environment. These ranged from market adaptations, physical input devices, new mental models, and brand engagement.
The role grew to encompass a stronger strategic emphasis. Collaborating with many different departments throughout the VW Group, I worked to evangelize, visualize, and embody changes needed to transform the automotive giant for a new generation and in a new economy.
